The _____ Embassy
Catalyst Arts, Belfast

The _____ Embassy was a facility delivered through Catalyst Arts Gallery in Belfast which catered for and researched the residents of Northern Ireland who had moved there from the Republic of Ireland. The initial role of The _____ Embassy was to highlight the lack of official recognition of this minority group and research why this blind-spot existed. In addition to attempting this impossible task, The _____ Embassy also handled a variety of simpler day-to-day issues such as writing letters of complaint to Internet Service Providers which blocked access to RTE, to sourcing familiar tea and food brands.
The first task of The _____ Embassy was to try and ascertain who exactly could be deemed a cross-border migrant. On registration day it was decided that anyone who has lived for more than 3 years in the Republic could be included.
